ABOUT KEVIN C. RAY, OWNER AND CANINE BEHAVIOR EXPERT
Positive reinforcement is at the core of everything I do.
Kevin C. Ray
Founder & Canine Behavior Expert
Kevin C. Ray, Canine Behavior Consulting Founder and Canine Behavior Expert, believes it is vitally essential for owners to give their dogs the opportunities and tools they need to live successfully in a human world. A dog that is given consistent guidance from an early age grows up to be confident. Education brings security, security brings confidence, and a confident dog has no need to show anxiety-based behaviors.
Strong Bonds Begin With Positive Training
The most solid relationships between dogs and humans are based on cooperation and kindness rather than a human dominance/animal submission methodology that is central to outdated traditional training methods. Positive training helps to establish and maintain a connection that increases trust and therefore creates a stronger bond between dog and owner because if your dog feels good about you, he will be a happier and better-behaved dog.
Training in GA and SC Lowcountry
Canine Behavior Consulting is located in Savannah, Georgia and serves the veterinarians of the Coastal Empire and Low Country, as well as online dog lovers internationally!

Ultimately, positive training results in a dog who follows an owner because it wants to rather than following out of fear, while traditional training uses punitive methods to force a dog to behave, often resulting in a “quick fix” that never truly identifies the root cause of the misbehavior and promotes insecurity.
Kevin’s personal pack
Canine Behavior Consulting’s website includes many photos of Australian Shepherds (Aussies) because Kevin C. Ray loves Aussies and currently shares his home with a lovely pack of three.
Aussies are brilliant working dogs with strong herding and guarding instincts. As a testament to their character, Kevin’s companion, Lismore, was the ambassador at the Savannah Scottish Games Herding Event for eight years (2010-2018). At least 200 children would pet her at each event and her deep-seated joy and patience never wavered. Sadly, she passed away in January 2019. At the ready, Kevin’s newest member of the pack, Taz, graciously inherited the title from Lismore. In addition, Taz also recently earned his Service Dog status. He passed AKC’s CGC - Canine Good Citizen, ACGC - Advanced Canine Good Citizen - Community, and AKC’s demanding Public Access Exam.
The angelic center portrait is Brisbane, affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Bubba,” who sadly died at age 14 in 2011.
Below Mr. Bubba’s portrait, is the handsome Buckaroo. The irony of this exceptional little dog is that he was sold to Kevin as “pet dog” quality because he has a coloboma, which is a congenital malformation of the eye causing defects in the lens, iris, or retina. He was rejected because a piece of color is missing from his iris. He sees perfectly. He was the 2010 MASCA (Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of America) Texas Conference mascot.
Kevin and his wife, Susan, have owned nine Aussies, including the three in their current family. The entire Ray Pack lives in Savannah, Georgia.
