CPDT-KA Certified
With no licensing or mandatory educational requirements for dog trainers, it can be difficult to determine which trainer has the most experience and knowledge to help you with training and behavior concerns. Canine Behavior Consulting founder and trainer, Kevin C. Ray, is CPDT-KA certified.
The professional testing program was originally created by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), the largest association of dog trainers in the world. Early on, the APDT recognized the need for certification for its profession and the CCPDT was born.
The Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) exam is updated annually to reflect changes in the industry and to assure the training methods being used are current and reflect current scientific data. The CPDT-KA exam also requires proven knowledge in:
Instruction Skills
Animal Husbandry
Ethology
Learning Theory

Certified By The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants is a professional association for the field of animal behavior consulting. It is involved with the problems, needs and changing patterns of animal-owner relationships, and helps to ensure that trained practitioners meet the public's needs. It works tirelessly to nourish the animal-human bond. The association's members meet standards for education and training and are held to the highest ethical standards of the profession.
As professionals, IAABC members work to minimize the use of aversive stimuli and maximize the effective use of reinforcers to modify animal behavior. Animal Behavior Consultants are required to demonstrate competency in five core areas including assessment and intervention strategies, counseling skills, behavioral science, knowledge of animal behavior, and species-specific knowledge in order to obtain certification through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
The IAABC continues to work both independently and in tandem with the CCPDT towards accomplishing the mutual goals of legitimate standardization and credentialing in the industry.
Kevin C. Ray, founder of Canine Behavior Consulting, is proud to be the only Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Training Certified Trainer in The Lowcountry and Coastal Empire.
